I was a step-mom at the age of 28, but I met my husband and his kids when I was only 24. They were 8 and 10 when we first started dating, now 18 and 20. Crazy how time flies. As much as I love my step-children and love being a step-mom to them(I seriously wouldn’t change it for anything), I am just that, a step-mom to them, I am not their mom, they already have a mom. There is something different and special about having children of my own, children that my husband and I share together. I’ll never forget the first Mother’s Day (well almost Mother’s Day). I was over 8 months pregnant with my first son and because I was so close to delivering, a lot of people celebrating me being a mother early. Becoming a mom really makes you appreciate your own mom even more. Because of this, I want gift-giving to be something you can look forward to.
