3 Things to Do with Left Over Halloween Candy

So, it’s November 1st and the aftermath of Halloween is setting in. Your kids are probably tired and coming down from their sugar buzzes today…and you are now realizing they probably got way too much candy trick-or-treating last night.

3 Things to Do with Your Left Over Candy

Don’t let left-over candy ruin your life or your kid’s teeth for that matter. On top of affecting your kids, it will be pretty tempting to you if it is sitting out for weeks on end. I know I don’t want to pack on 5 pounds before the main holidays even start. Take a look at these ways to get rid of it faster, without affecting your waistline or your kid’s teeth.

Get Crafty

Look for ways to incorporate the leftover candy for Holiday crafts. The options are never-ending; candy-corn wreaths, centerpieces, individual turkey place-cards, Santa Clause faces, candy-filled bottle noisemakers, etc. Simply get out your crafting glue, paper, scissors and put your candy in cups and let your kids do the rest. Not only will the candy soon disappear, it is a great way to allow them to be creative and use their imagination.
On top of crafting at home, another way I will be using ours will be to incorporate into my daughter’s upcoming birthday party.

Share the Love

There are a couple ways to share your candy. First, have your kids go through their candy and only keep their absolute favorites. The rest of the candy you can donate to those in need; local shelters, hospitals, schools or organizations like Operation Christmas Child. On top of donating, you can take the leftover candy into work and share with co-workers or your employees if you are an owner or boss…a great way to keep morale up.

Baking

The Holiday’s are a time of baking more than usual. You can make things like Candy Apples during the upcoming fall months, Decorate Cupcakes or one of my favorites Ginger Bread  People and Houses. Bag up and separate the candy for Christmas. When your family and friends come over, get it out for a great way for the kids to enjoy the time at your holiday parties.
Take the time and find creative ways to motivate and challenge your children to do something productive with their leftover candy. Make it a learning opportunity for you and your family. Enjoy!
