Though being a mom is the best miracle in life, being a new mom brings many new challenges, don’t let not knowing what items you truly need be one of those challenges. There are so many products out there for new moms, new babies, and new families. It is obvious all new moms need a crib, a dresser or changing table, diapers (cloth or disposable), and clothes. The items I am recommending, are items above and beyond the obvious basics.

Recommended Products

After having two kids, and many friends and family members having kids around me, the products below are what I recommend for all new moms. Of course, there are more things you may need, but these are products I love myself and feel have helped me in my motherhood journey.

Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets

These blankets are a life saver. They can be used to swaddle your new baby, used as a burp cloth, to cover your baby in their stroller or car seat and so much more. Both of my kids loved these blankets and I can’t say enough good things about them. I think I have 12 or more of them. My daughter now even likes to swaddle her very own babies in them, very precious.

Johnson + Johnson Bedtime Bath Soap

This product holds up to everything it says it is supposed to. It smells amazing, relaxes my babies before bedtime and is gentle on their skin. I have always used for my kiddos and my son who is 4 still wants to use it from time to time in his bath. Click Here.

Nipple Cream

If you are breastfeeding, nipple cream will be a must. The Motherlove brand is better than all the rest.  A little pricey but well worth it. Second best would be Lansinoh Lanolin Cream.

Baby Body Carrier

There are two carriers that I recommend for different reasons. I recommend the Infantino 4 in 1 because it gives you all that you need in a carrier, at an affordable price. This is the one I own and have loved it. Most of my friends and family have the Ergo and absolutely love it too. So no matter your financial ability, I have you covered.

Graco Pack ‘n Play

Getting this product is a must for many reasons. It includes a newborn napper that is also portable and can be taken around the house. A lifesaver when you need to take a shower or cook a meal. It also grows with your child and can be used when you travel and so much more.
I never recommend a bassinet because it only lasts for the first months of your little one’s life. Where this product can be used as a bassinet and then so much more. We kept both of our kiddos in one for the first months in our master bedroom but now that they are older, it is usually at my inlaws house so they have a place to put our newest baby while there.

Stroller

A lot of people don’t think they need a stroller for a brand new baby, but I would disagree with that. It gets your baby used to the stroller at a young age. Then, when they are older and you are trying to wrangle them in, they will still like it because it will be comfortable and familiar. My 4 year old loved his stroller and we took it everywhere. If he had his choice, he still would be in it daily.

My Favorite Strollers

If you think you will have more than one child in the future, look at the different double options ahead of time. I personally have had the Bumbleride Indie Single stroller, the Britax B-Ready stroller, and the Graco Fastaction Fold Jogging Stroller. All three are great for different reasons. I could jog with the Bumbleride and the B-Ready was great when I had my second child because it accommodated both of them. There is an adapter that you can hook your child’s car seat onto it or you can buy the second seat as they grow to fit two toddlers. I throw the Graco option into the mix because it is a more affordable option and very easily works with your Graco infant car seat without having to purchase additional adapters. If money isn’t an option, the Bumbleride for sure has my vote.

Great recommendations. I’m planning on getting a baby carrier too and Infantino seems to be the right choice. My favorite stroller is Graco Fastaction Jogger as well. Thanks for sharing these.

Hi Heather! Thanks for the comment, glad you liked my recommendations. Yes, the Infantino is wonderful. I am still using it with my 20-month-old even! The Graco Fastaction Jogger is great. I will admit, if money isn’t an issue, I liked my Bumbleride Indie better only because it has a better shock absorption system which is better for a smoother ride, and it is just a lot lighter. Enjoy your purchases. Are you a new mom or a mommy to be then?
