Thanksgiving Craft for Kids

I absolutely love doing crafts with my kiddos and if you are reading this, then you probably do too! I just did this craft with my kids today. It was a lot of fun and not too difficult. You still have a few days to fit it in, so grab these basic items, your kids and get crafting. Enjoy!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

– Glue Dots or Glue Sticks
– 1 Paper Plate per child
– 3 pieces of white paper per child (I used a heavier card stock, but anything will do)
– Googly eyes or a black marker
– 1 Piece of Yellow Paper
– 1 Piece of Red Paper
– scissors
– Paint (Red, Yello, Blue, Green, Brown + Orange is what I used)
– Paintbrushes

HOW TO MAKE YOUR TURKEY

First, put down a drop cloth, newspapers, paint mat, etc. to protect whatever surface you’re on. Then you’ll want to take turns with the colors, painting your child’s feet, pressing on paper, washing and repeating for each color. Takes a bit of time but you’ll get into a rhythm by the end.
Hint: For my one-year-old, I only did her foot this way. For her hands, I simply traced, painted the colors I wanted and cut out. She wasn’t in any mood to have her hands painted today.
Then I had my son move onto painting the back of the paper plates. At this point, I just let him go crazy, mix all the brushes and colors to make it his own. He helped me and painted my 1-year olds too.
Once all the paint had dried, my 4-year-old and I cut out all the hands and feet and glued them into place. Before gluing my 1-year olds on, I cut down her paper plate so it worked for her size hands and feet.

FINAL STEPS

After everything was glued into place, I cut the beaks and gizzards out of the red and yellow paper. My son then glued them into place. For the eyes, I would have preferred to have googly eyes but didn’t have any at home so we just had to draw them in. Either way is fine.
That is it, you have a cute little turkey made out of your cute little turkey’s hands and feet.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! I hope you enjoy this craft and your holiday with family and friends.
